Welcome to Ms. Engelke's Classroom! "Working together... to be the best we can be!" "I pledge for myself, my family, my school and my country, to be the best person I can be; to learn all that I can learn; and to treat others as I would like them to treat me." The mission of Parkside Primary Center is to fulfill our goal of collectively working together to provide not only the best environment for your child, but also the best learning facility. We promise to work hard to provide the best education for the world's most important asset, our children. As an elementary teacher with 19 years experience, my primary goal is to provide a warm and caring learning environment for your child.
I'm Sandra Engelke and I teach second grade at Parkside Primary. I have been teaching for nineteen years in the Bethalto School District. I previously taught second grade and third grade and for 11 years I taught first grade. I am very pleased to be teaching second grade again. I have enjoyed teaching in Bethalto and truly believe it provides a quality learning experience for the children.
I received my Bachelor's of Science degree from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville and my Masters Degree from Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. I also completed courses to become certified as a Reading Recovery teacher through McKendree College. My previous years of education have provided me with tools and skills to increase my experience and adaptability for educating young children. I really enjoy teaching second grade because the students make great gains with their reading in these early years. Also because it is an incremental time in which children develop their math and writing skills.
